Spring is here, and summer is approaching quickly. Now’s the time to get the classic automobile out of storage and enjoy all that Greene County offers. One of the best things the county provides — other than the bucolic beauty of its natural landscapes — is community. And for an auto enthusiast, there’s no better place to enjoy that feeling of community with like-minded individuals that one of the area’s car shows, cruises, or races. While you’re visiting for a car cruise or show, don’t forget to enjoy some of the other amenities in Greene County!
Flashlight Drags | May 21, June 25, July 16, August 27 & September 24
Greene County Airport
The Flashlight Drags will bring their popular style of “Old Fashioned/Heads-Up” Drag Racing back to Waynesburg. Flashlight Drags is a family-oriented auto event open to all street legal cars and trucks, including custom hot rod, street rod, muscle car, antique car, turner car, electric or related vehicles. Enjoy street racing without the jail time!
The event is held from 2pm to 6pm at the Greene County Airport. Race dates for 2023 are May 21, June 25, July 16, August 27, and September 24. Registration is from noon to 2pm and it is $40 to race. Spectators are $10 and kids under 12 are free. While you’re at the Airport, enjoy some lunch from Asher’s at the Airport. LEARN MORE
Second Friday Car Cruises | June 9, July 14 & August 11
Thistlethwaite Vineyards
Enjoy summer evenings at the winery with Second Friday Car Cruises at Thistlethwaite Vineyards in Jefferson. The peaceful countryside is the perfect backdrop for music and a glass of wine or wine slushies. Musical entertainment for your enjoyment, and What’s Smokin’ BBQ food truck will be onsite for your evening picnic. No outside alcohol is permitted. In case of inclement weather, music and food will be moved to the Wine Cellar.
The event is on Fridays this summer — June 9, July 14, and August 11 — from 5pm to 8pm. While at the vineyard, stop at the wine bar for a great selection of bottled wine to take home and enjoy later. LEARN MORE
Cruise-In for Veterans | June 17
Brooks-Crago American Legion Post 816
Celebrate Father’s Day weekend while supporting local veterans! Cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors are welcome while the DJ will spin tunes. Enjoy the Sizzlin’ & Smokin’ BBQ Cookoff presented by the Post 816 Ladies Auxiliary. Public tasting is from noon to 3pm.
The car show will be held at the Brooks-Crago American Legion Post 816 in Rices Landing. General admission is $5 and includes samples of each item and voting for people’s choice. Registration cost $15 and is from 10am to 1pm; awards will be announced at 3pm. Dash plaques will be given to the first 50 automobiles registered. Before the event, make a day of it and visit historic Rices Landing. That morning, the W.A. Young & Sons Foundry and Machine Shop will have guided tours (purchased online). The scenic Greene River Trail and Pumpkin Run Park are great to unwind after the car show.
4th of July Celebration & Car Show | July 4
Waynesburg Lions Club Park
Classic and custom cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome to join the celebration during Waynesburg Lions Club’s July 4th Celebration! The celebration runs all day beginning with a pancake breakfast at 7am and ending with stage entertainment and the area’s largest firework show. The food stand will open at 11am serving your holiday favorites and the DJ will play your favorite tunes.
The event will be held at Lions Club Park in Waynesburg from noon to 3pm. Registration is $10, from 10am to noon. There will be door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, an auction, dash plaques to the first 100 registered, and trophies for the top 10 vehicles. LEARN MORE
After the show, cruise through historic downtown Waynesburg to enjoy a delicious dinner at one of our restaurants or shop the downtown stores.
Freedom Car Show | July 15
Waynesburg VFW Post 4793
The VFW Post 4793 Auxiliary invites all cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles to the Freedom Car Show on July 15 from noon to 3pm at the VFW Post. Enjoy lunch at the VFW as their famous roasted chickens will be available to purchase and the kitchen will be open. Raffles, an auction, a 50/50 drawing all add up to make for an outstanding event!
Registration costs $10 and is from 10am to noon, and dash plaques will be given to the first 50. Awards announced at 2:15pm. Car Show proceeds go directly to veteran nonprofit program. LEARN MORE

The Ice Plant’s Annual Car Show | July 22
The Ice Plant
The Ice Plant welcomes all vehicles for their 27th Annual Car Show, “Racing Through the Decades!” Spend the day in Greensboro along the Mon River with music, good food, family, and friends. An auction, a 50/50 drawing, and door prizes will also be available.
Registration is from 10am – 1pm and costs $10. Goody bags and dash plaques will be given to the first 100. Awards ceremony at approximately 3:30pm. LEARN MORE

Greensboro & Monongahela Township VFD Car Show | August 5
Greensboro & Monongahela Township VFD
Head back to Greensboro and spend a summer afternoon with the Greensboro-Monongahela Volunteer Fire Department for their 2nd Annual Car Show. All types of vehicles are welcome.
Registration is from 10 am to 1pm and costs $10. Judging at 2pm and trophy presentation at 4pm. A 50/50 drawing and raffles will be held. Food will be available. LEARN MORE
If you didn’t get a chance the last time you were in Greensboro, take a drive through the historic downtown, check out the giant pottery shards, and enjoy some recreational time at the Mon View Park or along the Greensboro Borough trail. After the show, stop at The Ice Plant for a nice dinner.
King Coal Charles Workman Memorial Car & Motorcycle Show | August 26

Carmichaels Lions Club invites all cars, trucks and motorcycles to the 68th Annual King Coal Charles Workman Memorial Car & Motorcycle Show. Spend the afternoon at Wana B Park with friends and family for the conclusion of a week-long celebration honoring King Coal and the regional coal heritage.
Registration opens at 9am and costs $10. Judging begins at noon with trophies awarded at 2:30pm. Participants are invited to join the 68th Annual King Coal Parade with parade line-up following the show. There will be an auction and DJ during the event. LEARN MORE
Before the event, get fueled up for the long day at DJ’s Diner in Carmichaels. After the event, watch the parade traveling through Carmichaels if you choose not to participate, and head over to the fire department that evening to enjoy the last day of the annual Bituminous King Coal Show.
50s Fest & Car Cruise | September 9
Downtown Waynesburg
Downtown Waynesburg is blocked to through traffic, and we take over the town! Enjoy 50s music all day, food and fun. Bubble gum blowing and hula hooping contests, too! So, dress in your 50s best and come join the fun! Cars, trucks and motorcycles welcome. Food available for purchase.

Mt. Morris VFD Car & Truck Show | September 17
Downtown Mt. Morris
Music from the 50s and 60s play while cars and trucks shine in Mt. Morris during the 19th annual Volunteer Fire Department’s car show. Chicken BBQ dinners, hot dogs and drinks are available for purchase at noon. Event held rain or shine.
Registration is from 9am to 12:30pm and costs $10. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 registered and awards announced at 4:30pm. LEARN MORE

Extend your trip to Greene County with a drive along the winding countryside, seeing many historical sites that will bring you back in time, and visiting the many covered bridges that Greene County has to offer.
