Christmas lights, parades, and Santa himself seem to be everywhere in Greene County as we gear up for Christmas over the next few weeks. Take a break from shopping and fill up on wholesome holiday festivities that the whole family can enjoy!
Your Guide to Finding Santa:
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without him, and lucky for you there are plenty of opportunities to meet Santa Claus in Greene County this holiday season! This Friday, December 3, Santa will be at Waynesburg’s Holiday Open House and Tree Lighting Ceremony to take photos with any and all! Vendors and activities will bring joy and light to High Street, and the giant Christmas tree on the steps of the Greene County Courthouse will be brought to brightness with a lighting ceremony at 6 pm.
On Saturday, December 4, you can enjoy pancakes and sausage at the Breakfast with Santa at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Take a trip back in time at the Greene County Historical Society and Museum, and you are sure to be greeted by this holiday legend as well! Santa will be at the Historical Society’s Christmas Open House this Saturday and Sunday as you peruse through the rooms decorated in past fashions. If you still have room to squeeze another holiday activity in to your schedule this weekend, experience Waynesburg’s annual Christmas Parade in reverse at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Drive your vehicle through the still float displays, firetrucks, marching bands, and say hello to Santa stationed along the route!
Looking ahead, you can also get a photo with Santa at the Eva K. Bowlby Library’s Holiday Open House on Wednesday, December 8th. Make the most of your trip and enter the cookie raffle, children’s toy basket raffle, and let the little ones cozy-up for holiday story time.
Finally, if you wish to communicate more in-depth with the big man up north, you can write Letters to Santa thanks to the elves at the Department of Recreation! Bring your letters to Breakfast with Santa or mail them to the Greene County Department of Recreation. Parents and guardians, make sure you submit the form of disclosure with your children’s letters that can be found on the Parks and Recreation page or on the Greene County Department of Recreation Facebook page.
Upcoming Christmas Parades:
Holiday Parades will be bringing cheer to the streets of Carmichaels, Mt. Morris, and the Greene County Fairgrounds. Waynesburg’s Reverse Drive-thru Christmas Parade invites you to bring your vehicle and drive-thru displays at the Greene County Fairgrounds on the afternoon of Saturday December, 4th. That same evening, Carmichaels Christmas Parade will process through the Carmichaels Town Square. Head to Mt. Morris the following weekend for their Christmas Parade, which will begin at the Mt. Morris Methodist Church.
