As summer turns to fall, Greene County, Pennsylvania, comes alive with color, culture, and community during the 54th annual EQT Washington & Greene Counties’ Covered Bridge Festival, held the third weekend in September. This beloved regional event spans nine covered bridge locations, each offering a unique blend of history, food, entertainment, and family-friendly fun.
Two of the most popular stops—White Covered Bridge and Carmichaels Covered Bridge—showcase the rich heritage and vibrant spirit that make Greene County such a special place to welcome autumn.

White Covered Bridge Festival
Location: State Game Lands, Greene Township, PA
Bridge Built: 1919 | Bridge Length: 77 ft | County’s Tallest & Longest Covered Bridge
Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of fall foliage, the White Covered Bridge is a must-visit festival destination. Its rustic architecture, complete with tongue-and-groove siding and cut-stone abutments, creates the perfect backdrop for a weekend full of fall fun.

Carmichaels Covered Bridge Festival Site
Location: Carmichaels Borough, PA (Festival site: Greene Academy of Art)
Bridge Built: 1887 | Bridge Length: 64 ft | County’s Only Covered Bridge Located Within A Borough
Located within the borough limits, the Carmichaels Covered Bridge offers a cozy, small-town setting just steps away from the historic Greene Academy of Art—the first higher education institution west of the Allegheny Mountains.
