Wisecarver Reservoir Lake, just a few miles from downtown Waynesburg, is open to public fishing. The 18.5-acre lake is difficult to access by boat or kayak, but there are multiple places along its banks that make for easy fishing. Plans are in progress to create an outdoor recreation center at the lake, with activities and easier lake access. Wisecarver Run connects the reservoir to nearby Browns Creek; both Wisecarver Run and Browns Creek are also good for fishing. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission stocks Browns Creek with trout annually.
Tenmile Creek and South Fork Tenmile provide many access points for fishing an assortment of fish. It travels through a range of locations in Greene County, from farms and parks to old industrial locations, and alongside many major roadways in the county. Multiple groups, including the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, stock the creeks in several locations each year. You’ll find smallmouth and rock bass, catfish, carp, bluegill, trout and more in the waters of Tenmile and South Fork Tenmile.
Besides the smallmouth bass, bluegills, and sunfish found in Whitely Creek, the waters are stocked with trout each year by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. For an enjoyable time fishing in a scenic area, start your fishing trip at the White Covered Bridge, a historic wooden covered bridge that crosses the creek.
Ryerson Station State Park offers multiple locations for fishermen. Head out to the park to fish North Fork Dunkard Fork or the nearby South Fork Dunkard Fork. The stream offers fishing for trout and panfish and is stocked each spring by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. The old Iron Bridge is a favorite fishing spot along the fork. Make a weekend of it and book a cabin or campsite in the campgrounds and enjoy everything the park offers: 13 miles of trails that traverse a variety of habitats on 1,164-acres, several picnic areas to enjoy a rest, and a day use area with a playground, pavilions, and a pool with a splash pad.
Another waterway stocked with trout by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Enlow Fork is some of the most scenic fishing in Greene County. State Game Lands 302 runs along the waters of Enlow Fork and features a plethora of native wildlife (especially birds), wildflowers, and more. Bring your fishing gear, binoculars, and a field guide to take advantage of the area’s natural beauty.
The Monongahela River stretches alongside the eastern border of Greene County. You’ll find accessible fishing sites in most of the towns it flows by, such as Greensboro, Nemacolin, Crucible, and Rices Landing.
